SUMMARY OF POSITION: The Banquet Manager will be responsible for the daily operation of all banquet functions, specifically in ensuring exceptional execution of Delta standards and performance requirements. QUALIFICATIONS: Candidate must have 3-5 year's experience in a Food and Beverage Management capacity with banquet/hotel experience, and have a strong knowledge of the food and beverage process. Candidate must have previous management experience in a 30,000 sq ft - 50,000 sq ft or larger hotel meeting and/or convention facility. Must have excellent wine and food knowledge. Must have the ability to lead and manage a team of 40-60 casual, part-time and full-time associates. Previous experience in developing creative themes, parties, promotions, coffee breaks and social events an asset. Must have or be willing to get Responsible Beverage Certification for the Province of PEI within 30 days. Post-secondary education in hospitality or a related field is a definite asset. Must be willing to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends, and as necessary to meet the guests' needs and business demands. Exceptional interpersonal skills to enhance both the presentation and service standards throughout the operation. Excellent communication, guest service skills, and attention to detail. Excellent knowledge of Delta Hotels' service standards and processes. Prior experience in preparing budgets, and forecasts. Team player and a self-starter, able to work independently and effectively as required. Must have the ability to supervise, teach and train in an innovative and multi-tasked environment. Good physical condition, as position is physically demanding. RESPONSIBILITIES: Maintain excellent Delta and Hotel service standards throughout the Banquet department. Support the Food and Beverage Department in providing leadership for team members, and resolution of issues on a day to day basis. Act as a resource for service associates when addressing service/guest issues, and overseeing functions. Coordinate effectively with the Kitchen, Conference Services and other departments before, during, and after service. Coordinate all training efforts, performance reviews, scheduling, payroll/daily sales and labor, inventory, forecasting and budgeting. Be a key resource in the recruitment, selection and development of Banquet Team Ensure exceptional service delivery of all food and beverage services within a Catering environment, with the potential to work in other Food and Beverage Outlets. Ensure profitability of the Banquet department through effective management of employees, labour, and inventory. Develop and maintain a safety culture within the department and ensure departmental adherence to and awareness of Health and Safety standards. Participate actively in a multi-functional work environment. Ensure that the Food and Beverage Service process is continuously improved through active participation and problem solving. Be supportive of creativity and innovation, and maintain a high level of professionalism and quality service. Communicate with other departments in a positive and proactive manner.
