The property is located in heart of downtownCharlottetowndirectly on the waterfront.  The PEI Convention Centre is adjoined to the Delta Prince Edward and opened August 2013.  We now have over 59,000 sq. ft. of meeting and event space combined and are considered a Tier 3 destination.  The property has received rave reviews for its unique architecture that fits perfectly on the waterfront with stunning floor to ceiling water views of theCharlottetownHarbour.   SUMMARY OF POSITION: Reporting to the Director of Operations, the Chief Engineer is responsible to ensure theDelta PrinceEdwardHoteland PEI Convention Centre is in proper condition to exceed our guests' expectations.   These objectives will be obtained by overseeing major mechanical systems, preventive maintenance programs, physical guest and meeting room product, and by directing and managing employees within the maintenance division.   We are seeking a leader with a proven record of performance. By providing hands on, timely quality service, and a superior product, we will excel.     Competencies & Responsibilities:   To oversee major mechanical systems throughout the hotel, ensuring that all systems are fully operational Ensure all Fire and Health & Safety standards are met in accordance with government regulations Direct  and manage employees of the maintenance division To be a Key Leader in energy management practices and initiatives Ensure comprehensive preventative maintenance program is effectively implemented and maintained Ensure that an effective team is developed that works together as a unit, ensuring all aspects of assigned           tasks are completed in a timely manner and to the highest quality standards Ensure that the physical plant is maintained to the highest standards   Identify and prioritize organizational objectives, ensuring that the maintenance process is continuously improved through the use of on-going evaluation and problem solving teams Responsible for the recruitment, selection and training of maintenance staff team members Conduct employee development reviews, scheduling, payroll, daily sales & labour, and purchase orders Develop preventative maintenance practices which ensure the longevity of all equipment, including the monitoring and tendering of all service contracts A "hands on" and "lead by example" approach with day to day maintenance duties and/or projects as required Responsible for preparing annual operating budget for the department and assists with the capital planning budget for the hotel.   Qualifications 3-4 years experience in a senior role of responsibility with strong knowledge and understanding of building the engineering and preventative maintenance Qualified candidates should posses their 4th Class Power Engineer Certificate or equivalent Further post-secondary education in a related field a definite asset. Experience in energy management, fire safety, and health and safety Must have excellent interpersonal, communications and organizational skills Proficient in various computer applications Ability to train, coach and develop associates in an entrepreneurial and progressive environment High self- initiative, self-starter, dependable and able to multitask Physically able to work in a fast pace environment including standing, lifting, walking, etc. for extended period of time
