Overview of Position The role of the Bartender is to provide warm and friendly greetings to our guests, and to help initiate fun and courteous service in the Bar.  The Bartender will be a positive ambassador of Water's Edge Restaurant and Bar, and will be responsible for answering phones, seating guests, making future reservations, answering questions and engaging in light conversation.  The Bartender will also be accountable for the responsible beverage service in the bar area, for making drinks for other servers and for creating a warm and inviting atmosphere in the bar. Responsibilities Includes but are not limited to: Greeting & seating guests in a warm and friendly manner Answering the phones in a professional approach, and making accurate reservations The responsible serving of alcohol in Water's Edge Restaurant and Bar Responsible for accurate counts of beer and liquour Responsible for the knowledge of general bar drinks and the accuracy of drink recipes Responsible for cash handling and the accuracy of a cash float Ensure the cleanliness of Water's Edge, and working in a clean and safe environment Effectively handling guest concerns Provide help to the team where needed Initiate fun and courteous conversation with our guests Takes part in departmental meetings and training as needed Liaison  with other departments in the hotel as needed Exercises independent judgment on day to day operational procedures  Qualifications Minimum 2 years as a bartender/server in a restaurant/pub environment. able to work flexible hours (shift work) graduate of a hospitality program an asset previous experience with a POS system an asset certificate of serve safe, responsible beverage serving (preferred) self motivated and able to work well with limited supervision responsible, reliable and honest excellent English verbal and written skills required Bilingual French an asset, but not required Able to stand and/or walk for extended periods of time Able to carry/lift up to 20kgs Proven ability to professionally and effectively  use judgment in resolving guest issues Benefits Vacation Policy Statutory Holidays Destinations Travel Program Compassionate Care Leave Employee Assistance Program (EAP) Staff Cafeteria Meals and snacks Paid ½ hour lunch break Dry-cleaning Job Shadow Reduced Parking Fees Substantial discount at the Fitness Centre Prizes and giveaways at Children and Staff parties Developmental Review Guarantee Discounts in Outlets HollandAmericaCruises Colleague Referral Program Wage $10 per hour, plus gratuities (with increase after 3 month probationary period)
